2012:
In real life, I would say Kalpu has been my best friend rather than sister-in-law(bhabhi). That's who I talk to most. We love to experiment new recipes. We love hiking together. We love to catch up on things when we go for our walks, which is when we get together for dinner over the weekends. She's about to move to San Ramon in a month and I'm going to miss that. Hopefully, we won't stop trying out new recipes, specially now that she's about to have big kitchen. We're looking forward to cooking gourmet food!
As far as internet friends go, Darcy and Lisa are my best friends. I've always shared my joys and fears with them. I talk to Darcy almost every single day even if it's for just 5 minutes. I got to know her thru digital scrapbooking. She's the kind of person I would love to have as my next door neighbor. We share our interest in many 'weird' things that mainstream people don't care about such as making things from scratch, preserving, canning, avoiding overly processed food.
Lisa has been my friend for over 12 yrs. We met thru 'Oct 99 group', which is the online community I joined when I found out that I was pregnant with Neil. We have similar parenting style and same outlook on life. She's been my rock during my worst days. I wish she was living closer to me and could spend more time together.
2013:
After I went to India, I have reconnected with old friends: Pinika, Minaxi, Bina, Dipti, Sangita...
Pinika had ALWAYS been my best friend in my heart even though we lost connection almost 30 years ago! I'm so glad to get back in touch with her! Now, I talk to her almost every week.
Bina... I talk to her more than once a week. Also, talk to Minaxi almost every week. I feel more comfortable talking to them than Sangita or Dipti. Not too sure about Dipti though, since I haven't been able to get in touch with her since I've been back.
2014:
I Still talk to Bina quite often, but it's been more like every other week. However, I have really gotten closer to Tina. I still talk to Darcy and Lisa, both are my great friends, but Tina being at work (well, she's in Chicago) we chat on Q (online AT&T chat) all day long. During my house hunting last year, we got really close and talk almost every single day and even on the weekend thru text messages. I got to know Tina when I worked on CP09 project at work during '08-'09. We've been friends ever since and have met twice for brief 20-30 minutes when I went to Chicago and when she came to CA on vacation. She shared my passion about memory keeping. We both do it in our own way, but at the end, it's all about preserving history thru photo books.
2018:
Still no new local friends. Lisa, Darcy and Tina are still my best ones I can ever ask for. They've been there for me every step of the way!
