What stresses me?

2012:
Running late. I prefer to be early at least by 5-10 minutes, so if I run late, it totally stresses me out. But, I've learned to keep extra 5-10 minutes of cushion time, so that even if something comes up, I can still get there in time.

2013:
I think I've got my life under control - as much as I possibly can. Nothing stresses me out anymore. I've learned to take things easy. My goal is to be prepared for the future and do my best. This way there are no surprises to cause any stress.

2014:
Humm.. nothing really stresses me out! Maybe I should, but I'm way too laid back for it.

2017:
Nothing. Even when someone else walked off with my handbag at the airport, it didn't stress me out a bit!!! I just sat there in corner waiting for the person to return my bag, once they realized that they took the wrong bag. Also, it didn't stress me a bit that my ticket to India got booked at 7am and my flight was at 3PM!!!!

2018:
ARGH!!!! The fact that I don't have health insurance? I mean, we've lived without one for 15+ years! Why should it stress me out NOW? The fact that I'm in a deep hole of finances and see no way out? Just when there was a little hope of getting a home at low income price, it seems to be slipping away? Because income is just a bit higher than the requirement? The fact that I feel so alone in this whole 'life thing'? But these are not the stress factors, just the disappointments of life, I guess.

So, yes, nothing really stresses me out other than running late.

What would've made today perfect?

2012:
I've had great day so far. Productive day at work, evening with boy scout families, Neil got sworn as Patrol Leader. What more can I ask for. Now, if I can start and finish a scrapbook LO about Saturday's hike or even about today, that would make a perfect day!

2013:
Is there such thing as perfect? My day wasn't bad at all. Pooja got us all doing juice cleansing, so trying out different kind of juices everyday. It's been fun. Came home and she had made berry smoothie with almond milk! They also made kale chips! She's really been enjoying eating healthy food! Makes me really feel good. Did some scrapbooking! Almost finished one Project Life page and started on another one. Dad got back from India.

2014:
Getting the call from hiring manager for phone interview and then, get the job offer! (3/11)

2017:
It was as normal as it can be. Worked at the store, then to Charles Grant and then, Kimi. If I had just enough time to go home to eat dinner, it would've been perfect, but I'm used to running from one place to another without having a chance to eat meal in between.

What is annoying me?

2012:
What annoys me the most is when JK cuts me off if I try to state my opinion about something that he does not agree with (or that I spoke my mind about something that he agrees with but doesn't admit to me).

2013:
LOL some things just don't change! ;) It annoys me when people around me chooses to be part of the problem and not the solution.

2014:
People not having backbone to stand up for what's right.

2017:
People whining over little things.

What's your super power?

2012:
Humm... I don't think I have any super powers. However, let's see the things I might be taking for granted: Although, I'm primarily a night owl, once I wake up in the morning, I'm fully energetic and ready to go! I seldom get sick and if I do, I recover very quickly, most of the time without the help of meds. I was able to hike Half Dome and run 10K race without much of preparation. I'm able to read people's mind very easily.

Oh... the super power that kids have made me realize and hate me for it is, being able to fill up the leftovers in the perfect size of container!

2013:
Nope.. not any extra super power. Maybe being able to keep quiet in most hostile treatments towards me. That has to count for something, right? Maybe it's my weakness for not speaking up? I've just chose to pick my battles, really tired of continuously defending myself where I shouldn't have to.

2014:
It's not so much that I have super powers, but I've been very fortunate with MJ's blessings. I really feel that I always have the blessings with me. I have managed to conquer many troubles effortlessly because of it.

BTW, I've run/walked two half marathons since 2012 with barely any training for it!

2017:
Being able to work three 3-5 full time shifts back to back?

2018:
I guess I've used up my quota of super powers? I don't know. For last two years, I've always felt and said that Things work out for me on their own. No matter what. Well, I've had two incidents within last week that make me think otherwise. We've been trying to get qualified for low income home and Avni and I had been counting on it. We made sure that we met every condition. We were SURE that we were within income limits. W2s came around and I added all the income and it turned out to be 106K rather than 93K (the limit). This means, the home we would've get for 287K, would cost us 453K! It's still much better than market value, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to afford it.

Other thing is my health insurance. Because of my stupid mistake (I enrolled for 2017 in 3rd week of December, so I didn't think I needed to 'update' for 2018, apparently I did or else I waived my rights to have insurance), we don't have health insurance for this year. Yes, I've lived without one for years. We've been blessed and there wasn't any occasion for the need. But Avni's wisdom teeth have been hurting and she really need the surgery. She was also complaining that her arm is hurting. "Mom, we've lived without insurance for years, I don't how to deal with small stuff. But it's really hurting me!" THAT hurts to hear from my kid!

Maybe MJ has bigger plans and things will STILL work out?

Whose life did I make a difference in today?

2012:
I haven't talked to Swetal much ever since I got back to work 5 months ago. Every time I looked her up, she was either logged off or was busy. Yesterday, I found out about special Microsoft Office deal($9.95) for ATT employees, so I looked her up again to share that with her. She called me right away. Turns out she was going thru Breast Cancer. :( Her treatment just got over and she had returned to work just last week. But she still have many uncertainty and fears about the future. So, I told her that I will talk to my friend Kerry, who is also cancer survivor, and get back to her. I shared info about green smoothie, sprouting and importance about routine exercise as a permanent lifestyle changes. She was totally unaware of any of this and was glad to know about it when I shared some links with her and with names of few books.

2013:
Something similar. I was sharing FB Healthy Eating group how I feel validated about my food choices after watching the movie: Hunger for Change. Someone asked me about my 'steps' to grow sprouts. I shared all the knowledge, experience and links that I had to help them get started.

2014:
Jennifer was sharing a link of calculator to show how much your grocery budget should be based on your family size and age of family members. Mine came out less than 40%. Actually, calculator said I Should be spending $1300+ for a month for our family of 7 and my average is about $450-500. $600 on a heavy months, when I do mega shopping from Sikander or something But I didn't want to share that I only spend about ⅓ of national average. So, she asked me how I manage that. So, I shared some info about us being vegetarians, always eating home, making pesto, hummus, cookies, sauces among many other things from scratch. This reminded me to upload my recipe cards to FB to share with others who always have questions like this. She was able to make adopt to many recipes and loved the ideas about making refried beans at home, chopping onions in bulk and freeze them, making Bombay sandwich, mass or pulao.... I know the recipes will help many others too!

2018:
I guess no-one? Coach Brian announced yesterday during our crossfit game18.1 workout that I was going to Mt. Everest next month. So, some of the athletes came up to me and asked me about it. One of the mom shared that with her 12 yrs old daughter and the girl's eye just sparkled when she found out that I was going to hike Mt. Everest. Mom and daughter both looked very shocked when I told that I'm almost 50!! I hope that inspired them to keep on going and not let anything stop them. There were few others who also asked me about my hike and decided to go sometime in next year. I sure hope so!!

Today I felt really secured knowing

2012:
Nothing huge or specific, but today, I just thought of idea on how to execute this project. I'll create few simple scrapbook pages and update/decorate as I go. I'll have five years to fully add the final touches.

Other than that, I feel secured about our future. I know that we're not in a very good position right now, but I'm in secured financial position. I've been able to save every month at the rate we've projected along with putting money aside for upcoming 'out of normal' budget items.

2013:
I feel secure knowing that my kids will have great bonding when they grow up! It warms my heart seeing them spend so much time together and the noise of laughter that comes from their room when they're together!

2014:
I feel good that even though my savings didn't reach as much as I had wanted, I should be ok for next 6 months. Even better, if I can get the interview for the job and can secure the job. That would be the most amazing thing and a much needed boost for my career. (3/11)

2018: Obviously, I didn't get the job in 2014 and things went downhill after that. But, we're coming back up and it's been in interesting ride. If I didn't have Avni and Neil's support, I don't know what could've happened. Truly grateful for that!

Considering all that, I feel secure that kids have bright future! They have learned hard lessons (unfortunately), but they've been stronger for it.

What are three things I need to buy?

2012:
I don't 'need' to buy anything, but there are few things in my wish list.

External Hard Drive for iMac's backup.
Backpacking tent and backpack for the hikes
Needed to buy snowshoes for this Saturday's hike, but there is no snow, so it will be just a normal hike with no snow on the ground.
I also need to buy virgin coconut oil, once I run low on my current supply. Been using it a lot lately.

2013:
Not much.. but here's few things.
Toothpaste. Using sample size.
Jojoba Oil - security at London made me throw away mine, so need to get it again. Been using coconut oil instead(for face).
Spare charger cord for my iPhone to keep in car/work. Battery drains way fast at work because of no signal at work. It's less than 10% by the time I leave from work (Without having done anything on it!).

'want' - AppleTV, so that I can share photos, videos, scrapbook LOs on TV.
Nothing else comes to mind.

2014:
Nothing that I can think of! Happy to say that I did buy everything I had on the list in previous years! I need to buy a home, but that's the tall order! :)

2018:
I don't think I still have backpacking tent or actual backpack. But I might end up buying it this summer as I have more time off for all that fun stuff.
other than that, I don't need to buy anything. I either learn to live without it, or just buy it right away. I do want to buy a baker's rack to display my limited inventory of Rae Dunn pottery that I collected from HomeGoods while I worked there. But also to have some better storage solution. Obviously, it's not high on priority. Maybe in summer.

What I really need to buy is decent bed/mattrass for Avni. Poor girl has been sleeping on futon for last two and half years! Well, I supposed I need a decent bedding too, since I'm sharing my twin mattress with JK. As you can imagine, it gets crowded and a bit restrictive to toss and turn..

List your pets

2012:
Don't have any! Although, we used to have fish named Swift. Neil got it for his birthday from Arnav. When we moved, we gave it to Arnav and Swift lived 3 long years!

2013:
Still don't have any! When we move, might think about fish again!

2014:
None

2017:
None!

2018:
Haha! None! However, Avni wants a little dog really bad!!!

What kind of car are you driving?

2012:
Toyota Avalon of '99(I think). We bought it when I was working at Cisco. So, it's been over 4 yrs that we've had this car. It's still going good and I have no plans or wish to replace it any time soon.

2013:
2004 BMW SUV - 81K Miles. Now that Pooja is home, we needed to get one more car. Her idea was to buy her own car, however she was reluctant to get the car loan. I didn't want to get her off on start purchasing things on loan. So, I gave her my car to drive until she has decent money to buy better car and I bought BMW. Put down $8k and took out loan for $6K. My goal is to pay it off before end of the year.

2014:
Same as last year. BMW.

2017:
Toyota Prius of 2014. Had to buy a new car after State Farm decided to total my BMW due to accident. :(

2018:
JK took my car for Uber, so I ended up having to drive his car, Mercedes - has 224K miles on it.

What has challenged your morals?

2012:
Thankfully, haven't had anything happen that would challenge my morals. It might have to do with not having any local friends? Once they found out that I don't drink or party(club parties) and go out to dance clubs, I got excluded from pretty much all social gatherings. Oh well, their loss, not mine!

2013:
Again, nothing so far! On small note, we don't have any projects at work and it took me longer than it should to go to Janis(my manager) to let her know that I need something to work on. I was afraid that if I let them know that I'm out of work, they might decide to send me home, but at the same time, I didn't want to sit around with no work at all. So, I did what was the right thing to do and went to her looking for more work. Two weeks later, I still don't have work, but at least I asked for it and made it known that I'm looking for work and don't enjoy sitting around idly.

2014:
Oh.. just the other day, as I was walking home from overflow parking, one car stopped next to me asking for cigarette lighter. Not knowing what for, I told them (2 girls) that I don't have it on me, but my home is right here and I can run and get it for them. So, I go home to get it and it turns out they actually wanted it to lit the cigarette. They didn't want to drive to 7-Eleven, so they had asked me for it. ARGH!!!!!

2018:
Living a pretty simple life and keeping busy with work, not much time for anything else.

Saturday, February 18, 2017

My biggest hope is...

2012:
that all 3 kids get great education and excel in whatever they choose to do. Also that all seven kids stay as close-knit as they are now for years and decades to come!

2013:
that we move out of this place before end of the year and move into a home of our own!!!

2014:
that I won't have to come back to this job by necessity, it will be by choice when my 6 months are over.

2015:
that JK is successful in his business.

2018: Happy to say as kids have grown, they're closer to each other than ever! Neil went to Chicago on his own and spent some time with Nikhil and Dilan, Then, Avni and Neil went to Nikhil's high school graduation. When Arnav was in NY, he went to visit Pooja in DC. So, I have a good feeling that they'll continue to keep in touch and make an effort to connect with each other. Nikhil/Dilan were in in CA over winter break and Pooja came over for the same time too and it was just like the old times! They'll be getting together again in July for Sanam's wedding. I couldn't be happier for them.

Other than that, I need a better living situation. I'm getting cramped in this small place, small room with hardly any space in here.

Friday, February 17, 2017

What was the last new thing you tried?

2012:
Humm, that would be knitting. I tried to learn it last month. I need to get back to it. I haven't spent much time with it as much as I Should. I want to say that I'm just better at crochet, but I don't want to give up on it just yet.

2013:
SnowShoe hiking!!! As bad as I am about dealing with cold, Neil and Avni really packed me up with THEIR jackets, I was really warm! I loved every minute of it! It was 19*, but didn't feel too bad. It was sunny and beautiful! I'm already thinking about going there again next year!

2014:
Well, due to lack of snow, snow shoe hiking was canceled and replaced by rock climbing. I've done rock climbing once with boy scout, but this was the first time that we did it on our own (well, of course with AWA/Tim Guido). It was just us and Tim's family.

Other than that, I've started CrossFit 6 months ago, something that I never thought I would do.

2015:
Recently, I did the box jump at 30" high!!! It was such a thrill and something I didn't think that I can do!!!

In cooking, tried out rainbow cookie and while results weren't what we were going for, it still turned out great! We were going for rainbow heart cookies, but our heart cookie cutter was too big for it, so we ended up making accidental 'sathiaa' from it.

2018: I haven't tried anything new lately. It needs to change! I AM hiking Mt. Everest next month! And I did Spartan Race two years ago. That's another thing I never thought I would do!

Oh... and whole new career/s. Tried out Senior home care giver, which I loved to my surprise, Cashier, Cash Office at Homegoods and now, working at Tesla inspecting Tesla cars! Who knew I would be working in Auto Industry?

Thursday, February 16, 2017

What mood were you in today?

2012:
Ummm.... Happy?

Not sure why, but I guess I don't a reason to be happy? First of all, I had a whole nine hours of sleep!!! I don't remember last time that happened, specially in a weekday! I went to sleep at 9 last night! JK and Neil totally thought it was so weird that I went to sleep way before they did. It's usually other way around!

Then, I had a dream of Karamsad Mandir and MJ, that always lifts me up for a whole day. Beth(my boss) is on vacation from today and I handled all the issues pretty good. I had some good chat with Darcy and later on with Lisa. I haven't talked to Lisa in over a week, so that was good to talk to her. At the end of the day, I hung out and chatted with Kerry and ???? for a little while. Usually, I have to rush home because there is always somewhere I need to get to by certain time. Today, I was supposed to go to Neil and Avni's Open House, but they didn't want me to attend it.

Avni needed leggings for school for tomorrow. They're having 80's theme, so we went to pick it up from Kalpu after dinner. Hung around there for about half an hour. So, all in all, happy day! :)

2013:
I SHOULD be happy, since I we just bought BMB SUV for me. But I can't get over the fact that I spent most of the savings for downpayment - $6k, my choice, since I wanted to get lowest possible amount for the loan($8100). I really don't like the idea of taking out the loan for the car. :(
But other than that, it had been a good day. I suppose we did need to get a car for Pooja and now, this way, Pooja can get my car and don't have to spend money for her car.

Later, we went to mom's to drop off dad's van that I had been using while he's in India. Avni had great time with Arnav and Anuj, since they don't get to see each other too often anymore. Neil was at his friend's birthday party, so he missed out on that.

2014:
Content. I have come to the terms about the lay off. Planning to make the best out of it. I'm not going to stress about it. After all, I'm in better place this time, than I was 3 yrs ago.

I made big batch of refried beans. They smelled so good that I suggested Avni and Neil to try some out with cheese and salsa. They both loved them so much that they took seconds and thirds! Even JK ate some in afternoon! Made roasted red bell pepper soup for lunch, which is always a family favorite. I had planned to check out some open houses in Pleasanton, but I decided to skip it and just relax at home.

For dinner, I made rava idli and tried out 2 chutneys (coconut and onion) that I wanted to try out for a while. I even made extra sambar powder for future use. Had huge portion of sambar leftover for future use. So, all in all productive and fun day.

2015:
Super happy and cheerful!  (2/19)
In the morning, I took Ba at Kalpu's office for her tooth extraction. Before going there, I had called mom to ask for help pay Pooja's college tuition. Without any hesitation, she told me to send Pooja over to get money from her. A minute after I hung up, she called back to let me know that she'll also give her the money for my flight ticket to TX (for Namu, Kalpu's niece's wedding). After we got home from Fremont, Pooja went to mom's. A bit later, Ron, our landlord, came with a realtor to check out the home. He's debating between if he should sell the house or rent it. I really wish that JK had confirmed news that he has locked the funding and we can move by next week.

For dinner, I made Masala Capsicum curry and aloo chutney pulao. It was a HUGE hit with everyone!!! It turned out a lot better than I had expected!

2018:
Eh! I've been home all day. Had to deal with MIL's crabby mood. Soon after JK came home, she changed her colors and tried to be all nice and concerned about my lunch. I hate double faced people! Then, went to Sprint to get phone for JK. Ended up paying extra $200 because Pooja had taken the phone on his account, which she broke and in no condition to return.

Calculated family's annual income and it turned out to be $103K. $10K more than we needed to qualify for low income housing. :( Let's see what happens on that front. Still keeping my fingers crossed that something will work out.

Spent hours backing up and restoring JK's phone. Made Mulgutawny soup for dinner (which put me in a little better mood, cooking always does that for me). Neil surprised me by coming home. He texted earlier asking if he should come home. Well, of course, you should come home! What kind of question is that???

Last thing I wanted but didn't get...

2012:
First thing that comes to mind(Thanks Neil!) is SLEEP! Last night I wanted to go to sleep early, but one thing led to another and before I know it, it was 11! So today, I'm making sure that I go to sleep early even though I have tons of website related work pending. My eyes are burning, so I know that I shouldn't neglect and stay up. It's only 8:30.. it's sooo not me to go to sleep this early, but I think by 9 I might call it a day. Even if I get distracted, I know that Neil won't let me stay up. He's too protective of me in that way.

As far as material thing, I can't think of anything. I know I was tempted to buy Groupon for laser hair removal last month, I tried to justify it as my anniversary gift, but then backed out of it.

2013:
Nothing really. Just came back from India, which would've been my big 'want'. :) Everything else is just small stuff. I really don't care for much! I had been tempted to get Silhouette Cameo (paper cutting machine), but I know that I won't get much use of it right now, where we're so cramped for space. Maybe after we move.

2014:
Nothing really. Having limited space and limited budget gets you trained not to want things just because.

2015:
Can't think of anything. Going to Mt. Everest hike soon. that's expensive enough.

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

How many hours of sleep did you get last night?

2012:
Same as any other day. Went to sleep around 11, maybe 11:30 and woke up at 6. I want to start going to sleep early, but I keep running into things that I need to work on and before I know it, it's 11.

2013:
Didn't fall asleep till about 11:30 and then, I kept waking up at 12, 1, 4 and finally long stretch at 6.

2014:
It's Sakrvarsha in mandir today and JK helps with posting link to website of Live boradcasting, so I knew that I wouldn't get solid sleep. I went to sleep around 9:30, was woken up when JK was talking on phone to people in India. Went back to sleep and woke up again around 4 to watch the live broadcast of Sakarvarsha (beginning part of it). I would've been up at 4:30 to go to CrossFit anyway.

2015:
Since it was Friday night, lot more than other days. Went to sleep around 11 and woke up at 7ish..

2018: Almost 10 hours!!! Went to sleep at 9 and woke up around 7.

Monday, February 13, 2017

What book are you reading today?

2012:
I have 2 books going right now. The Happiness Project and First World Problems:Why The Terrorists hate Us.

2013:
Just finished reading: Speculations. It was a book about philosophy and a bit of suspense.

2014:
The Uprising by my dear friend Teresa Hernandez! That's third book in the series. I'm one of the beta reader for her.

2015:

A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet: Southern Stories of Faith, Family, and Fifteen Pounds of Bacon  by Sophie Hudson. Really good book of short stories about Author's life.

2018: Alexander Hamilton's biography. Listening to it on my phone. Borrowed from library.

Sunday, February 12, 2017

How many photos have you taken today?

2012:
Just one! When I was hiking Pleasanton Ridge with JK and Kalpu, we tried to take a photo of the beautiful view from the top of the hill, but it didn't come out right because we were facing the sun.

2013:
6. # pics of anuj, dinner of Idli-sambar, cookies that Avni baked and book I just finished reading.

2014:
Just one. A photo of receipt of sewing patchs on the hat for boy scouts to send to Kim so that she can price compare at other places.

2015:
Just one.. of kids hanging out in my room. They had to show off what Neil got for free from OfficeMax. He was hanging out there before his patrol meeting started and was looking at some sticker sheets. Employee asked him what he wanted them for and he told him that he needed it for school project. He ended up getting them for free!!!

2018: 4. Had to take photos of my coupon shopping! :)

I wish I had

2012:
More attention span.. focused vision. I've noticed over last few years that I'm loosing focus on things. I can't concentrate on one thing at a time. I keep wondering in 10 different directions and as a result, nothing gets done, at least not with the quality and attention it deserves.

2013:
I'm getting better at focusing. Have cut down on many things. Scrapbooking more than ever. Reading more. I do wish I was a bit faster at scrapbooking. But I'm getting way better than I ever was. So, can't complain.

2014:
gone to India right now for Katha and Sakarvarsha. Really missing being at the mandir right now.

2015:
just enough money to pay monthly bills. Is that too much to ask for?

2018: Actually, I can't think of anything I want more. Money? I don't think anyone is ever satisfied the more they have. I'm content right now with life in most part.

Friday, February 10, 2017

What did you buy today?

2012:
Just filled up the car at Costco. That's about it! I even resisted the temptation to go in Costco! Or else it would've been another $100 trip! Avni was with me. I asked her if we/she needed anything. Seems like we're stocked up for another week, so there was no reason to make a stop there.

2013:
Nothing at all! I meant to go grocery shopping, but I had bought more than enough last week, so didn't need to get anything extra. Did get the milk last night.

2014:
Nothing. Will be keeping tight budget for next 6 months!

2015:
Nothing. No money in the bank. Barely $7!!!

2018: 6 boxes of Resee's peanut butter puffs cereal, 6 boxes of 6-pack cashew granola bars, greek yogurt, and few other things. Used coupons. Paid $11 total for everything!!! Gave cereals to Arnav. Those are his favorite and his face was priceless!!! You've think he just won a lottery!!!

Thursday, February 9, 2017

What time did you go to sleep last night?

2012:
Humm.. I think I went to sleep sometime after 11:45. I remember calling india(MJ) at 11:30. JK and I were working on Santram website. JK went to sleep at 11:30. He was shocked to realize that it was 11:30 already. As soon as he realized that, he closed the shop and went to sleep! :) I finished up my blog entries, journal, one last check on email/forums and then I went to sleep too!

One of these days, I want to start going to sleep early, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Just too much to do/learn and not enough time!

2013:
Not before 12:25! Ok, so it was Friday night, I was browsing on Facebook, email, forums.. oh.. picking up 700MB+ of free mega kit from SweetShopDesigns FB hop! Then, I read a book for a bit and maybe played Candy Crush game!

2014:
After 12:30. I would've gone to sleep early (maybe), since I was up early at 5 to take Avni for ACT test in Tracy and worked from 4-10 photographing portraits for father daughter dance (My guy and Me). But Sandipkumar started chatting with me on Facebook and sharing his troubles about finding jobs, I couldn't say no to him. I haven't talked to him in years! Not sure what prompted him to reach out to me, so I didn't want to turn him down.

2015:
Now that I wake up at 4:30 for CrossFit, I try my best to go to bed by 11.. but doesn't mean I actually go to sleep by then. I do end up reading for a little bit before going to sleep.

2017:

Tricky question! I was high up in the air, with no time zones, traveling to India!

2018:
I think 9? I was dead tired when I got home from work and went straight to sleep after dinner!

What is the largest TV screen in your house?

2012:
36"! Right now, we have 2 TVs and both are 36". One is CRT that was given to us by Melanie about 5 yrs ago. We never thought that we'd go on with that TV for this long. She gave it to us when our first one died... the one we bought back in '91! Melanie's TV is still going strong. However, we just bought a new one flat panel over the Black Friday sale for only $200.

2013:
Still the same one!

2014: yeap. still the same one!

2015: Haven't bought a new one. No need for it right now.

2018: It's still the same one! No one uses it right now anyway.

2/7: Name a person you wish you didn't have to deal with today

2012:
Can't think of anyone! I work with wonderful team, have a great boss. No reason to avoid any of them. Attended Boy Scout committee meeting and all the parents are great in the troop too. So, no problem there either. Been blessed with awesome family too!

2013:
Again, no one that I would want to avoid! Actually, I just lost a good friend at work today, Marcus Schnarr. He retired today and said that he doesn't think he'll ever come back to work in his current organization. I'll sure miss his visits.

2014:
Well, I just got call from Janis to tell me that my job has been cut back due to budget cut. I did know that this was coming sooner or later. She was so upset about telling me about this, it felt like she was more sorry about it than I was. For some reason, I'm not distressed about it at all. I just have this feeling that it's for the better.

So, in normal circumstances, I would say that I wish I didn't have to deal with her today and get this news, but she's genuine person and she's already offered to bring me back in 6 months. So, it is what it is. Not her fault that she had to deliver this news. Like I said to Kalpana, when it's time to come back, it will be by my choice, not by necessity.

2015:
No one. It's Saturday and stayed at home trying out new recipe of Jalapeno fried rings. Turned out amazing!!!

2018: No one really. Had a great day! But then, I am fortunate that I don't have to deal with anyone that's unpleasant.

2/6: If you do today over, would you change anything?

2012:
No, not really. It's been a great day. Got accomplished things at work. Came home and went to Boy Scouts meeting with Neil. Working on reactivating Santram site. I DO wish it went live today, so that we can broadcast tomorrow morning's LIVE broadcast of sakarvarsha program. We're still waiting on the hosting company to turn the site on. Maybe it's all for good and the site is supposed to go live on the Maha Purnima's day.

If I can REALLY change the day I want to, I wish I was in India right now. Thinking of the time spent last year making me wish I was there today for Maha Purnima.

2013:
It has been a great day! I talked to Meenaxi for almost an hour this morning. At work, there was finally some testing work. Got home to see kids posting on my Facebook account pretending to be me saying I have such cute kids!!! Overall, it's been a great day all around!

Now, if I can just get to buy one of those houses I have been looking at, I wouldn't mind that a bit!

2014:
Good day so far! Went to CrossFit. I was the only one for my session. Would've been nice if Amanda and others were there too.. but it was fun anyway. And I think I really pushed myself and went beyond my expectations. Work has been ok. Got some work done. Nothing going on in the evening.. Finally!

(2/7/14) if this question was for 2/7 and not 2/6... I just got a call that my job has been cut back and I only have 2 weeks left. Maybe it's the good thing. Better things are in the future. Only time will tell.

2015: pretty routine day.. not much happened. Ready for some action.

2018: Not a thing!!! Woke up early enough to make potato curry for Oakland Baba, Avni got home from her babysitting job and got to talk to her for few minutes. She already had few minutes at home before leaving for school. After Oakland, came to mom's home, went for a walk with Kalpu and then, had lunch - papdi-no-lot. Followed by jalebi. Then, I showed Kalpu my socks and gloves to see which ones should I take with me at Mt.Everest. Hour later, mom gave me Sev for snack and soon, Anuj came home and he made faluda for me. Why would I change ANYTHING from this day???

If I can change anything, that would be Avni's work/school schedule. I wish she didn't have to work so hard and could concentrate on school alone.

2/5: On a scale of 1-10, how is your health?

2012: I would say my health is at 9. I have made lots of progress in last 3-4 yrs. Not that my health ever was in bad shape, but I feel much better about my future health because of the changes I've made in my diet lately. After I bought BlendTec, one thing led to another. I've started to drink green smoothie. I started to grow sprouts(alfalfa, broccoli, clover, radish), eat more of sprouted mung beans and recently started to grow sprouts of mix of beans(mung, moth, adzuki/red chori, urad, peanuts, garbanzo) and bring to work for lunch at least 3 times a week.

I know I don't exercise as much as I should. I hike in summer, walk most days at work(fast walk with Kerry), but it's not much compared to what I should be doing to keep my body fit. If Kerry ends up working from home or takes a week off, you guessed it! LOL I wouldn't go for a walk just by myself!  Some day, I'll get better about it.

2013: Still excellent! It seems like I have gained some weight lately, but I can't say for sure as I hardly ever weigh myself. As a precaution, I've started to reduce my carb intake just by little bit. Not any huge changes, but just in moderation. I still drink green smoothie every day and although I had gotten away from sprout mix salad, I just started back on it last month.

2014: Still at 9, since there is always room for improvement! However, I started CrossFit back in July and doing great with it! My cardio has improved and so has my endurance. Still working on my strength, but I'm doing MUCH better than I ever did! Still doing great with food/diet. Drinking green smoothie every morning, eat sprouts when I can, avoid junk food...

2015: Excellent! For the first time ever, I've got my blood work done, mammogram done, pap smears and all.. everything came out normal! Not that I needed the proof that I was healthy, it doesn't hurt to know that there really aren't any underlying problems. Doing great progress in physical fitness too! Going for crossfit 5 days a week!

2018: Just got all the tests done again and everything came out great! I know I have slacked in last two years as far as workouts go, but I'm getting back on track. Actually, hiking to Mt. Everest Base Camp in less than two months!!!
